About the Public Services BusinessUnit:

The Public Services Business Unit iscomprised of the following departments: Water Resource Management, Library,Parks and Recreation, Public Works and Environmental Services.

 

The Job:

ThePublic Services Executive Director is a member of the City’s executive team andmanagement team. The successful candidate will exhibithighly developed communication, technical, analytical and leadership skills thatdemonstrates their ability to execute job functions in a fast-paced changingenvironment within a growing community.

 

Thisposition is primarily responsible for managing business unit work, preparationof City Council agendas, coordination of special projects and representing theCity Manager at meetings. Some of the major duties of this position include:

 

  • Manages business unit work, project and personnel activities of the Public Services Business Unit to continue to provide high levels of service to the public, promote sustainable growth patterns and infrastructure, to assure proper timing of infrastructure maintenance and investments, and to promote quality of life through parks, recreation and library facilities and programs;

·       Assists andcoordinates with assigned department directors to develop and monitor biennialbudgets, work programs and 6-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP);

·       Coordinates specialprojects and prepares reports involving a wide range of issues within the Citygovernment structure, including researching requested data, analysis of issues,preparation of reports, support to City departments and program implementation;

  • Responds to requests for information and complaints from the public and City Council members in a courteous and timely manner, including dissemination of information, researching information on complaints and resolving conflicts between citizens and City services as necessary;

 

MinimumRequirements:

Abachelor’s degree in public administration or a closely related field andrelated local government experience. Master’s Degree is preferred.

 

Salary,Benefits and Recruitment Process:

The annual salary range is$150,000  - $170,000 depending upon qualifications. The City of Auburn hasan excellent benefits package.
