The Landfill/Recycling Director is responsible for directing the city’s landfill and recycling operations.  This includes directing the operations of the Decatur/Morgan County Landfill and all solid waste operations for the City.  Additionally, this position is responsible for financial and capital purchases and oversight of the Morgan County Recycling program finances.  The Landfill/Recycling Director will also coordinate with the Mayor and City Council to provide information as well as other city departments to resolve city-wide issues. 

 

The ideal candidate will:

·        Have a minimum 5 years’ experience in recycling operations, solid waste management and/or landfill management or related field, including supervisory experience.

·        Have a strong understanding of landfill operations rules, regulations, policies and procedures and recycling and solid waste management principles.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Public Administration, Environmental Sciences or other course of study related field. 
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the public, department directors, staff, elected officials, representing the City professionally and well. 

 

The salary range is $69,807 – $106,220.  The actual starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
