The City of Jesup is seeking a CityManager.  Jesup is the county seat ofWayne County, Georgia and is located approximately 40 miles from the coast witha population of over 10,000.  Jesup is adiverse community approximately 53% white, 38% African American, and 11%Hispanic. It has a median income of $39,933 annually and an age groupdistribution that tends to match statewide age trends.  The position of CityManager is appointed by the Mayor and Commission and is responsible fordirecting the daily operations of all city departments and works closely withthe Mayor and Commission to ensure the vision of the City’s elected officialsis implemented.  City services are provided through five departmentswith 86 full-time employees.  The GeneralFund budget is $11.5 million.

The City of Jesup seeks a professionalCity Manager who is a dedicated team player and can quickly gain the confidenceof the community. The right candidate for this position is experienced andethical, a proactive leader who possesses the ability to build community trustthrough the development of partnerships with various stakeholders and othergovernment entities. Must have the ability to embrace change and focus oncontinuous improvement while guiding the community through challenges. He/shewill be expected to articulate a vision of excellence, establish credibilityand consistency in delivery of services, be a creative problem solver & excellentcommunicator with citizens & elected officials.

CandidateQualifications

·        Bachelor’sdegree required in public administration, business administration or relateddegree from an accredited college or university. A master’s degree ispreferred.

·        Aminimum of five years of executive level management experience in localgovernments of similar size and complexity to the City of Jesup or applicableexecutive type experience is required or any equivalent combination ofeducation, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge,skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

·        Evidenceof continued professional development such as ICMA Credentialed Managerdesignation, is a positive indicator of dedication to the profession and willbe noted during the vetting process.

Compensation &Benefits:

The expected starting salary range for thisposition is $95,000 - $130,000 (depending on qualifications ofthe selected candidate), with a comprehensive benefits package, includinghealth and life insurance paid by the City. The city participates in theGeorgia Municipal Employees Benefit System (GMEBS) Defined Benefit RetirementPlan for its employees. Participation is mandatory for eligible employees.  The city offers a generous annual and sickleave program, as well as vehicle and cell phone allowances.  Relocation expenses are negotiable.
