The Deputy Director of Revenue is aprofessional position that primarily provides leadership, direction, andoversight of the day-to-day operations across five (5) locations administeringmotor vehicle operations for the Jefferson County Department of Revenue. Theworks involves overseeing managers and supervisors within a department and thatincludes 90 to 100 employees. The Deputy Director of Revenue develops andrecommends adoption of internal policies and procedures to provide and maintainefficient operations. The Deputy assists with state audits in providingevidence to validate the Federal Heavy Use tax payments and forms collected bythe department. The Deputy ensures that correct ad valorem tax rates,penalties, and interest are recorded and collected on motor vehicles.
The Deputy Director of Revenuemonitors changes in legislation and ensures that these changes are effectivelyapplied across the department. This individual will participate in budgetformulation including monitoring, goal-setting, and long-and short-rangeplanning. The Deputy Director acts as a liaison to other local offices, stateand federal agencies as related to the Department of Revenue. The DeputyDirector may also respond directly to citizen concerns regarding varioustaxation-related questions. This individual will also conduct research asneeded on specific issues related to motor vehicles registrations and titles,and employee and customer complaints and provides information on a detailedknowledge of rules, policies, and procedures of the department and County. TheDeputy Director ensures that employees have the necessary resources toaccomplish goals and assists the Director in the execution of his/her vision inplanning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the activities of revenuefunctions in Jefferson County.
